Here's to a More Secure New Year

In recent weeks, several major corporations, including McDonald's and Walgreen, have been the target of hackers who have stolen thousands of usernames and passwords and posted them online. Angelfire has not been breached but to be safe, starting next week, we're going to require all our users to update their passwords to make them harder to crack. You can change your password at any time or wait until you see the password screen below when you log in:

Stay in touch with your site's visitors -- Angelfire's add-on modules make it easy for you to interact with your visitors. Start by creating a contact form and a guestbook.

Get close to your customers -- Email newsletters are a great way to get customers and prospects interested in what you’re doing and to get them to take action. They're fast and inexpensive to create and more effective than regular emails. Sign up for Constant Contact.

Make your site more sociable -- Flickr, YouTube, Last.fm, Facebook and Twitter. Use these handy add-ons to engage with your site visitors. Just drag and drop them onto your pages anywhere you would like.

Get your own domain name and email address -- Isn't it time you got a place on the Internet you can call your own? Buy a domain name for only $12.95 and get your email accounts free.

Give Your E-Mail Marketing More Punch

How do you write effective e-mail marketing newsletters that get your message across and reel in readers at the same time? Here are four points to consider:

  1. Write headlines and subheadings that clearly tell readers what the newsletter is about.
  2. Use links that direct readers to where you want them to go on your site.
  3. Place keywords at the beginning of your email.
  4. Use bulleted and numbered lists to impart lots of information quickly.
  5. Tell your reader what you would like them to do. End your email with a call to action.
